The Secret Louisa
Written by Louisa Burns-Bisogno & Directed by Jeanne Glynn
A ground-breaking, deeply researched, exploration of the “real” Louisa May Alcott – not her creation in the classic “Little Women.” She was the core of her dysfunctional family becoming the breadwinner when her brilliant but abusive father took up residency with his mistress. Louisa’s unhappiness became mental illness when as a Civil War nurse she was given a mind-altering, mercury-based medication. Her childhood fantasies, the inspiration of her short stories, became terrifying confrontations with a phantom trying to force her into sex and marriage.

These taboo silent films were censored by the British..
